Started out at 08.00 hours having had breakfast and cuppa. Wind improved from the gusts of the previous day!! Slept poorly as noise around boat very off-putting. Kevin slept in salon most of night, worried the gusts would cause the anchor to drag too much. Came out of the bay turning south, met some wind very early on, so sails up within an hour, sailing on close reach mostly. Sailing with no problems, until wind moved onto bow. As we needed to reach Marmaris to complete the paperwork, (I will explain this later) we switched onto engine. Kevin feeling pretty rough with sea sickness. Tablets taken, with little effect. Decided to anchor overnight in the nearest bay. Just at that point, the engine packed up completely!! Managed to sail our way into the nearest bay, quite a long way to go still. As we entered the bay, the Turkish Navy came towards us in a rib declaring the bay restricted. At this point with very variable winds we had to tack a few times to find enough wind to get out the bay. Eventually deciding on another bay more southerly. Brought Kejstral to a stop under sail and anchored safely. Well what a relief ! In 12 feet of water we managed to settle for the evening, Spoke to EGG (the broker) about the engine problem, they will send someone out in the morning. Kevin feeling crappy still. At around 7 pm with no food eaten,he crashed out and only surfaced once for a wee. I stayed awake until 9.30 pm, then dozed on sofa for a few hours before climbing into bed. Total miles 40.4 n.m 6 hours of sailing
