Woke early, well Kevin did! I stayed I bed until 07.30 had breakfast then off for wash ready for the day.
By the time we arrived back at 'Kejstral' workmen were there with chart plotter being attached. Seemed to be a damp problem. Well it works now ! Shopping for provisions, Migros and Bim, the best choices of items. Spent lots as usual, mainly fresh food supplies. Meat bread veg etc. Back on board to unpack then had a sandwich on board for lunch. last visit to E G G to say goodbye, they were at lunch so we came back to have a go at opening both sails, mainsail was pretty stiff, seemed to stick but eventually, we managed to furl it in again. Setting sail......so we closed all hatches, stowed everything safely. Called the marina to leave, unhooked the electric source and turned off all stopcocks. Started engine, untied one stern line, loosened the remaining line and the marina guys appeared. Undid the bow line and quick release of the last stern line and we are off!! Gentle cruise on the engine just to clear the marina. Within 10 - 15 minutes we had the main sail opened, amazing!! Then the Genoa followed, all went out with no problems. Pretty scary trying to do this without Cumhur there to hand. ( our sailing course tutor) Managed to sail to our first bay, it took 2 hours and 30 minutes. Wind was a fluctuating 10-11 knots with gusts of 20 knots. Travelling mainly on a broad reach, reefing in the main due to gusts. Total mileage was 10.8 n.m. Anchored in a small bay, thought it should be pretty protected, however, gusty most of the evening. Kevin fiddled with anchor and supported it with an additional rope. Caught a mercan, first fish of the trip!! Threw him back as a little small to eat.
